2021 High Holy Day Information

Monday, August 16, 2021

The High Holy Days offer us the opportunity to come together as a community. Our worship is beautiful, meaningful and uplifting. We are thankful to our professional staff, board members and volunteers who enable our services to flow and to be dignified.

Because of our concerns about Covid 19, our Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services will be held exclusively on-line. In-person services have been canceled. There will be an in-person Rosh Hashanah Family Service on September 7 held at Loose Park Pavilion at 5:00 pm and a communal Tashlich Service will be held at 6:00 pm at the Loose Park Pond.

Our services will viewable on our website (watch here), Facebook page (watch here), and our YouTube channel  (watch here).

Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: January 2

Why Prayer Works Prayer works not because it changes God, but because it changes us. Jewish prayer trains the heart through three movements: gratitude, petition, and praise. When we give thanks, we learn to see with fresh eyes. When we ask, we keep hope alive. When we offer praise, we step out of ourselves and remember […]

Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: December 26

Cultural Christmas This is going to be a fun one. There was a tradition at the congregation that I served in Chicago to involve Christmas carols written by Jews in the service closest to Christmas. There was always a crowd. I’m sure many of you love the cultural aspects of Christmas; by that, I mean […]

Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: December 12

No name is given, no reason explained—only bodies wrestling in the dark. Fear rises, pain sharpens, exhaustion presses in, yet Jacob continues the struggle, discovering that growth is […]
