Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: September 26
As we stand between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur, Judaism reminds us that thinking is not enough. The Talmud teaches: Hirhur lav k’dibur dami — “Contemplation does not count as recitation.” Reflection and regret matter, but they only take on power when we bring them into the world through words and deeds. This Shabbat, we will explore why our tradition insists that action matters more than intention, and how this teaching can guide us as we prepare our hearts and our hands for Yom Kippur.
