Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: October 31
Can people truly change? Our tradition says yes, but only if we begin. The Talmud teaches that four things can overturn even a harsh decree: charity, prayer, a change in conduct, and a change in place. Each is a step toward renewal. When God tells Avram, “Go to yourself,” it means that transformation starts with motion. The Zohar notes that when we strive to purify ourselves, we receive assistance from above. This Shabbat, may we take that first step—and trust that blessing begins the moment we move.
