Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: July 11
We live in an era when most people use things other than religion to find comfort and a place in the world. We use our jobs. We use the good things people say about us. We use possessions. All these things are outside of us.
One of the consequences of this move away from religion is that people see their lives as a growth process. We are always striving for more. While according to some rabbis, we are not supposed to emphasize having more. We are here to discover the real person hidden within us. True happiness does not come from external things. It comes from the internal. It comes from discovering our authentic selves.
This is what I will talk about in tonight’s sermon. I hope to see you. Shabbat shalom.
