Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: September 19
This week at services, I will speak about the opening words of the Amidah: “Our God and God of our ancestors.” These words teach that Jewish life is built on two foundations. We meet God in our own lives — through the Holy Days, through prayer, through the joys and struggles of being Jewish today. And we meet God through our connection to our ancestors — the God of Abraham and Sarah, of Jacob and Rachel, whose covenant continues to play a role in our lives. Judaism needs both. Together, they sustain our people and our tradition across the generations.
