Mitzvah Day – Spring 2022

The New Reform Temple Mitzvah Day
Sunday, April 24
 
There will be no Religious School on this day so that everyone can participate in a mitzvah. NRT members may volunteer at one of the outdoor family-friendly locations:
 
Rakeover Project at JFS Brookside Food Pantry (all ages): Yard clean-up, raking, pulling weeds, sweeping walkways,etc. Help to beautify the area for those in the KC community, who pick-up food items for their own pantries.
 
Time: 10:30-11:30am. (12 people)
Location: 425 East 63rd Street/ Kansas City, Mo. 64111
 
Mitzvah Garden KC (ages 5 and up): Help plant the spring crops and flowers at this community garden that donates all produce to local food pantries for the purpose of Growing the Good.
 
Time(s): 8:00-10:00am (15 people); 10:00am-noon (15 people)
Location: 12320 Nall/ Overland Park, Ks. 66209
 
Manheim Community Garden (age 5 and up): They need your help in getting the garden ready for spring planting and clean-up. This is a non-profit organization that focuses on reintroducing home-grown foods into the lives of their neighbors.
 
Time: 10:00-11:30am (12 people)
Location: 4229 Forest Ave./ Kansas City, Mo. 64110
 
Village Shalom (all ages): Join the residents at Village Shalom, on Rachel’s Patio near the playground, for music and a sing-a-long, with our awesome music specialist, Brendan Howard. Bring a lawn chair and be ready to enjoy music with people of all ages!
 
Time: 2:00-3:00pm.
Location: 5500 West 123rd St./ Overland Park, Ks. 66209
 
Tikkun KC (15 years old and up): Be part of a community that helps turn an abandoned house into an affordable home for a deserving low-income family. Details on the scope of the work will be sent out soon.
 
Time: 10:00-2:00pm. (25 people)
