Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: September 4
This Shabbat, as we read Nitzavim and move closer to the High Holy Days, I hope we can think about teshuvah/repentance as return. All of us have made mistakes. We have hurt people. We have made choices we regret. Judaism does not ask us to pretend those things never happened. It tells us that the road back remains open. We can recognize where we have gone wrong and begin moving in another direction. Eventually, though, return has to become action. We have to make a different choice. This Shabbat, may we find one place in our lives where we can begin to return.
