Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: June 19
As Kansas City welcomes the world for the World Cup, we are reminded that some journeys are too important to make alone. This week’s Torah portion begins with a single word that carries a powerful lesson: anashim (“People” not “person”). God speaks in the plural, suggesting that courage and wisdom emerge through relationships rather than isolation. Ramban, Noam Elimelech, and even the familiar proverb, “It takes a village,” point to the same truth. We become more than we could ever be on our own. This week, may we strengthen one another, borrow one another’s hope, and help someone else keep walking forward.
