Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: July 24
As we prepare to welcome Shabbat, we have an opportunity to consider one of Judaism’s most important aspirations: practicing chesed/compassion. Compassion is more than an ideal. It is the daily practice of noticing one another and responding with generosity. In a world that encourages us to hurry past one another, Shabbat reminds us that every person carries joys and burdens. Our job is to pay attention to those around us and respond to their needs. May this Shabbat renew our commitment to building a community where no one celebrates or struggles alone.
