Rabbi Levinsky Sermon: August 14
This week’s Torah portion begins with the word Re’eh—“See.” Moses asks us to pay attention to the choices that stand before us. Most choices do not seem important when we make them. Most decisions we make before we are certain. A conversation, an act of kindness, or a decision to forgive may feel like a small part of an ordinary day. Yet we cannot know where those choices will lead or whose life they may touch. Judaism does not require us to know the future. It asks us to recognize the opportunities before us and act. This Shabbat, may we learn to see them.
